Beclomethasone Dipropionate Nasal prep is a corticosteroid nasal spray used for the treatment of allergic and non-allergic rhinitis, sinusitis, hay fever, and nasal polyps.
Indications
- Sinusitis
- Hay fever
- Allergic rhinitis
- Non-allergic rhinitis
- Nasal polyps (post-surgical prophylaxis)
- Vasomotor rhinitis
Dosage
Adults: 1-2 inhalations in each nostril twice daily.
Children (12 years and older): 1-2 inhalations in each nostril twice daily.
Children (6-12 years): Start with 1 inhalation in each nostril twice daily; patients with more severe symptoms may use 2 inhalations in each nostril.
Children (<6 years): Safety and efficacy not established.

- Nasopharyngeal irritation (24%)

- Nasal congestion (<3%)
- Nose bleeds (<3%)
- Rhinorrhea (<3%)

- Nasal septum perforation (rare)
Precautions & warnings
- Nasal passage infections and paranasal sinuses should be appropriately treated
- Caution when transferring from systemic steroids if adrenal function is impaired
- Systemic effects may occur at high doses used for prolonged periods
- Growth retardation has been reported in children
- Higher than recommended doses may cause clinically significant adrenal suppression
- Caution during pregnancy and lactation
