Riboflavin (Vitamin B2) is used for prevention and treatment of riboflavin deficiency conditions such as cheilosis, angular stomatitis, glossitis, keratitis, seborrheic dermatitis, and microcytic anemia.
Indications
- Riboflavin deficiency (cheilosis, angular stomatitis, glossitis, keratitis, seborrheic dermatitis)
- Microcytic anemia
- Migraine prevention
- Cataract prevention
Dosage
Adult Dose (Oral):
- Riboflavin deficiency: 5-30 mg/day in divided doses
- Migraine prevention: 400 mg/day (up to 3 months for best results)
- Cataract prevention: approximately 2.6 mg/day
Pediatric Dose (Oral):
- Riboflavin deficiency (3-12 years): 3-10 mg/day in divided doses
- (>12 years): 5-30 mg/day in divided doses
Side effects
Side Effects:
- Bright yellow discoloration of urine
- High doses: Diarrhea, increased urine output
