Indications
- Neuropathic Pain
- Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathic Pain (DPNP)
- Postherpetic Neuralgia (PHN)
- Peripheral Neuropathic Pain (PNP)
Dosage
Adult Dose (Oral):
- Initial Dose: 5 mg twice daily
- Titration: Increase by 5 mg weekly to 15 mg twice daily
- Maintenance: 10-15 mg twice daily (based on age and symptoms)
Mild Renal Impairment: 5 mg twice daily → 10 mg twice daily
Moderate Renal Impairment: 2.5 mg twice daily → 7.5 mg twice daily
Severe Renal Impairment: 2.5 mg once daily → 7.5 mg once daily
Side effects
Common Side Effects:
- Somnolence (drowsiness)
- Dizziness
- Edema
- Weight gain
- Loss of consciousness (rare)
- Liver dysfunction (rare)
Precautions & warnings
- Caution while driving (may cause drowsiness and dizziness)
- Elderly patients caution (risk of falling)
- Avoid alcohol
- Dose adjustment needed in renal impairment
