Amantadine Hydrochloride is indicated for parkinsonism, drug-induced extrapyramidal reactions, and prevention or treatment of influenza A.
Indications
Treatment of parkinsonism, drug-induced extrapyramidal reactions, and prophylaxis/treatment of influenza A virus.
Dosage
Adults: 100 mg twice daily for Parkinson's/extrapyramidal reactions. Influenza A: 200 mg/day or 100 mg twice daily.
Side effects
Nausea, dizziness, insomnia, ankle edema, livedo reticularis, anxiety, headache, dry mouth, and lethargy.
Precautions & warnings
Do not discontinue abruptly in Parkinson's patients to avoid parkinsonian crisis or delirium.
