Calcium Carbonate [Eggshell source] + Vitamin D3 is a film-coated tablet used for the treatment of bone loss (osteoporosis), weak bones (osteomalacia, osteopenia), rickets, hypoparathyroidism and to ensure adequate calcium and vitamin D3 during pregnancy, lactation, post-menopausal and senile osteoporosis.
Indications
Bone loss (osteoporosis), weak bones (osteomalacia, osteopenia), rickets, hypoparathyroidism, latent tetany, ensuring adequate calcium and vitamin D3 during pregnancy and lactation, post-menopausal osteoporosis, senile osteoporosis, drug-induced osteoporosis (Phenytoin, Phenobarbital, Prednisolone).
Dosage
Adults: One tablet in the morning and one tablet at night or as directed by the physician. Use in children and adolescents should be directed by the physician.
Side effects
Common side effects: Generally eggshell calcium is safe for long-term use without causing any GI discomfort or constipation. Rare side effects: Kidney stones, hypercalcemia, alkalosis, loss of appetite.
Precautions & warnings
Discontinue if hypercalcemia occurs. Patients with a history of kidney stones should increase fluid intake.
