Bismuth Subsalicylate is a medicine used in the treatment of diarrhea, nausea, heartburn, indigestion, and upset stomach. It works through antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, and antisecretory actions.

Dosage
Adults (>16 years): 30 ml (in dosing cup or 6 spoonfuls) 3-4 times daily, 30 minutes before meals. Repeat every ½ to 1 hour if needed. Maximum 8 doses in 24 hours.
Children (10-14 years): 15 ml (3 teaspoons)
Children (5-9 years): 7.5 ml (1.5 teaspoons)
Children (3-4 years): 5 ml (1 teaspoon)
Under 3 years: Ask a doctor.
Note: Do not use for more than 2 days. Do not use if symptoms are severe or persist for more than 2 days.

Precautions & warnings
- May cause black tongue and/or black stool (common and harmless).
- Do not take with aspirin or other salicylates.
- Caution should be exercised in patients taking anticoagulants (blood thinners), diabetes medications, or gout/arthritis medications.
- Do not use for more than 2 days.
- Do not use if symptoms are severe or persist for more than 2 days.
- Do not exceed the recommended dose.
