This combination is indicated where a deficiency of the relevant vitamins exists. It is indicated for the treatment of polyneuropathy, neuritis, neuralgia, cervical syndrome, shoulder-arm syndrome, lumbago, sciatica, myalgia, intercostal neuralgia, herpes zoster, trigeminal neuralgia, supportive treatment in facial paresis.
Indications
- B1, B6 and B12 deficiency syndrome
- Sciatica
- Lumbago
- Trigeminal neuralgia
- Facial paralysis
- Optic neuritis
- Diabetic neuropathy
- Peripheral neuralgia
- Myalgia
Dosage
Adult Dose (Oral):
- 1-2 tablets three times daily
Adult Dose (IM):
- In severe cases: 1 injection daily until the acute symptoms subside
- For milder cases: 2 or 3 injections should be administered weekly
Side effects
Common Side Effects:
- Generally well tolerated
- However, a few allergic reactions may be seen
Precautions & warnings
- Cyanocobalamin should not be given before a diagnosis has been fully established because of the possibility of masking symptoms of subacute degeneration of the spinal cord
- Cyanocobalamin is not a suitable form of Vitamin B12 for the treatment of optic neuropathies associated with raised plasma concentrations of cyanocobalamin
