Mr. Asir has received training from multiple pioneers and leaders of different therapeutic modalities, both during his undergraduate Psychology program in Clark University (Massachusetts), and his time pursuing an M.S. on clinical mental health counseling at Touro University in New York. As such, he is trained in over 8 different modalities, including CBT, TI-CBT, DBT, ACT, EFT and Art Therapy. He has conducted research and training in couples counseling, emerging adult psychology, identity issues, and trauma. He is also a New York State certified addictions counselor (CASAC), with 4 years of experience providing short term, long term and emergency mental health services to a diverse group of patients, and has seen over 100 patients in the US, including adolescents, adults, couples, families and groups. Asir incorporates an eclectic, client-centered approach in providing holistic, empathic, and specialized care. He is a firm believer that the patient-therapist relationship plays a key role in the efficacy and rate of therapeutic growth, and can offer a modern, bicultural, yet non-judgmental perspective on his patients’ issues. As a professional musician, Asir also draws from his lived experiences both in the academic and the artistic realms, and incorporates aspects of mindfulness in helping his patients bridge gaps between identity domains, and enhance their overall sense of self. As a past educator, Asir also prioritizes psychoeducation and skill training with his patients, so that they can gain a lifelong toolkit within just a few sessions, to help them manage symptoms and improve self-worth indefinitely.
