Prof. Dr. Brig. Gen. Md. Azizul Islam is one of the most prominent psychiatrists of Bangladesh. He completed his fellowship from Bangladesh College of Physicians and Surgeons. He obtained advanced training in Chief Military Medical Academy, Ankara, Turkey and on Child and Adolescent psychiatry from National Institute of Mental Health and Neuroscience (NIMHANS), Bangalore, India. Beside those, he underwent many professional and academic trainings at home and abroad. For his outstanding activities in the field of mental health services in the country he was awarded with Fellowship from Royal College of Physicians (FRCP) and Fellowship from American College of Physicians (FACP).

He was commissioned in Bangladesh army medical corps in 1986. He has been relentlessly working to build awareness, breaking stigma of mental illness. His work to manage Stress is widely accepted at home and abroad.

Prof. Dr. Brig. Gen. Md. Azizul Islam is a regular writer in the national dailies in the field of mental health awareness. In his credit there are about 30 publications in national and international medical journals, 50 publications in the national dailies, weekly and health magazines. He wrote two books on mental health in Bengali named ‘Moner Nana Rong O Mono Rog’ & ‘Sishu Kishor Mono Bikash Abong Autism’. He writes editorial for different prestigious medical journals.

Besides practicing general and adult psychiatry he has keen interest in child and adolescent psychiatry specially autism. He is one of the pioneer child and adolescent psychiatrists in the country. Brig Gen Aziz is currently working as Professor & Head of the Dept. of Psychiatry, Armed Forces Medical College and Adviser specialist in Psychiatry at Combined Military Hospital, Dhaka Cantonment.

He is now available in Square Hospital as a Consultant of Psychiatry.
