Prof. Dr. Saban Horo, a medical graduate of Patna Medical College, Bihar, India boarded on a progressive journey in Ophthalmology patient care. He achieved his Masters in Ophthalmology (MS) from the same institution.

He joined the Ophthalmology Department of Christian Medical College, Vellore, India in 2002 and managed various ophthalmic emergencies like corneo-scleral tear and lid tear repair. During this period he gained experience in Nd-Yag lasers and double-frequency Yag lasers. He was a full-time Fellow (Basic & Advanced) in Cataract Microsurgery in Sankara Nethralaya, Chennai and exposed to photodynamic therapy and thermotherapy in treatment of various retinal diseases.

As an Assistant Professor of Christian Medical College, Vellore, he conducted retina clinics wherein retinal referrals were seen, lasers were done and decisions were taken. He was involved in screening of premature babies in the Neonatal unit. His surgical work in anterior segment surgeries included cataract surgeries with and without IOL implant and complicated cataract surgeries. He became an Associate Professor in 2010 and  Professor in 2022. 

Prof. Dr. Saban Horo is competent in Cataract and Glaucoma diagnosis/work-up/surgery, ND-Yag Laser, Vitrectomy, Retinal Lasers Slit Lamp delivery, Corneo-scleral Tear repair and so others. He has many publications in national and international journals. 

He joined Square Hospital as a Senior Consultant, Ophthalmology.
