Professor Zahidul Hasan has graduated from Dhaka Medical College. He obtained M. Phil in Microbiology from Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University and MPH in Epidemiology from National Institute of Preventive and Social Medicine. In his early career he served in Tea gardens in Sylhet under Duncan brothers and Shaw Wallace Bangladesh respectively. He served as Professor and Head of the Department of Microbiology in Bangladesh Medical College, Dhaka and then served as Professor of Microbiology in Ibrahim Medical College. Finally in 2006 he joined Square Hospital as Consultant- Microbiology.

Professor Hasan has vast experience in the field of Clinical Microbiology and Infection Control. He is the founder President of ICPPB (Infection Control and Prevention program, Bangladesh) and is regarded as the spearhead in introducing hospital based infection control activities in Bangladesh. He published numerous scientific papers and attended scientific conferences in home and abroad. In addition, he was the founder Executive Editor of Bangladesh Medical College Journal. He also acted as guide for students of University of Dhaka and Kings College, London University. In addition, Professor Hasan is actively involved in nursing education and various social and cultural activities. He is also voluntarily serving as honorary Vice President of FDSR (Family Development Services and Research), a non-government organization providing healthcare services to remote rural population.
