Prof. Zafar Khaled

Professor Zafar Khaled at present is working in the Department of Ophthalmology in Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU), Dhaka, Bangladesh. He is also a Consultant Phaco and Lasik surgeon in Bangladesh Eye Hospital, Dhaka and Lasik Sight Center. Gulshan, Dhaka. Apart from dealing with all types of eye patients he specializes in Phaco surgery, Lasik Surgery, Diabetic Retinopathy and Glaucoma.

Professor Zafar Khaled received his MBBS degree from Sylhet Medical College & Hospital in 1985. He then obtained the FCPS in 1986 from BCPS (Bangladesh College of Physicians and Surgeons). Professor Zafar Khaled worked in Chittagong Medical College & Hospital, Dhaka Medical College Hospital, National Institute of Ophthalmology and Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU), Dhaka for the last 28 years in different levels from Medical Officer to present professorship. As a surgeon he performs over 1,000 (one thousand) eye surgery each year (including phacoemulsification).

Professor Zafar Khaled has published numerous articles in different scientific journals and received a gold medal for best scientific paper in 1995 Ophthalmological Society of Bangladesh journal. He had spent a good amount of time in overseas training in Singapore, Ahmedabad in India and Switzerland. Professor Zafar Khaled regularly attends annual meeting and seminars in home and abroad which includes Ophthalmological Society of Bangladesh, Bangaldesh Academy of Ophthalmology, American Academy of Ophthalmology, European Society of Ophthalmology and Asia Pecific Academy of Ophthalmology.
