• Dr. M. Akhter Hossain Obtained his MBBS from Dhaka Medical College.
• He attained his MS in Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery from Cardiology in National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD).
• He served National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD) as Assistant Professor, Cardiac Surgery till 2006 and achieved super Specialty training in Cardiovascular Surgery. He acquired special training, necessary expertise and wide exposure in the field of Cardiovascular Surgery.
• He took advanced training in Cardiac Surgery from Sri Rama Chandra Medical University of INDIA.
• He then joined Labaid Cardiac Hospital as Senior Consultant of Cardiac Surgery.
• In 2007 he joined Square Hospitals Limited as Consultant of Cardiac Surgery & served there for long 9 years till July 2016.
• He has joined Asgar Ali Hospital in the position of Senior Consultant & Chief Cardiac Surgeon.
• He has performed series of Minimally Invasive Cardiac Surgery (ASD, Mitral Valve Surgery, Aortic Valve Surgery MIDCAB), Beating Heart Bypass surgery, Large series of Total arterial bypass surgery by LIMA – RIMA Y’ grafting, No clamp aorta bypass surgery, valve replacement & repair surgery, Congenital heart defect surgery.
• He performed many complicated surgery as CABG Surgery in CKD in advanced stage, CABG Surgery in patient with End Stage of Renal Disease on Dialysis. He performed series of Aortic Valve Surgery by Mini Thoracotomy for the first time in Bangladesh.
• He is a life member of Bangladesh Cardiac Society and Bangladesh Association of Cardiac Thoracic & Vascular Surgery.
