Citric Acid is a demulcent which relieves irritation of the mucous membrane in the throat by forming a protective film. Citric Acid is absorbed after oral administration. It is found naturally in the body and is widely distributed.

Mechanism of action

Citric Acid forms a soothing layer over the mucous membrane on the throat, relieving inflammation and pain.

Dosage

Adult Dose (Oral): 4 teaspoonful (20 ml) 4 times daily.

Pediatric Dose (Oral):

  • 1-5 years: 1 teaspoonful (5 ml) 4 times daily
  • 6-12 years: 2 teaspoonful (10 ml) 4 times daily
  • >12 years: 20 ml 3-4 times daily

Missed dose
