Fluocinolone Acetonide 0.025% Topical belongs to a group of medicine called steroids. It is used in the treatment of skin conditions associated with inflammation and itching. It provides relief from swelling, redness, and itching in the affected area.

Fluocinolone Acetonide 0.025% Topical is a steroid. It works by blocking the production of certain chemical messengers (prostaglandins) that make the skin red, swollen and itchy.

• Inflammatory and Pruritic Skin Conditions: Used for a wide variety of local inflammatory, pruritic and allergic disorders of the skin including eczema, dermatitis, prurigo, psoriasis, lichen planus, and discoid lupus erythematosus.

Topical Corticosteroid

Fluocinolone acetonide is a synthetic fluorinated corticosteroid that is used topically for its anti-inflammatory, anti-pruritic and vasoconstrictive properties. It is a synthetic hydrocortisone derivative.

Fluocinolone Acetonide blocks the production of inflammatory chemical messengers that cause redness, swelling and itching of the skin.

Adult Dose (Topical):

• Apply onto affected area(s) 2-4 times daily.
• Apply as a thin film and massage gently into the skin.

Children and Elderly: Same as adult dose.

For external use only. Use in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Check the label for directions before use. Clean and dry the affected area and apply the cream. Wash your hands after applying, unless hands are the affected area. Avoid contact with eyes, nose, or mouth.

If you miss a dose of Fluocinolone Acetonide 0.025% Topical, apply it as soon as possible; however, if it is almost time for your next application, skip the missed dose.

Common Side Effects:

• Burning at application site
• Irritation
• Itching
• Redness
• Thinning of skin (with prolonged use)

Precautions:

• Do not use if primary infection (bacterial, viral, fungal) is present.
• Do not cover the treated area with airtight dressings such as bandages (may increase risk of side effects).
• If the treated area becomes infected, stop using and consult your doctor.
• Consult your doctor if condition has not improved after 4 weeks of treatment.
• Do not use for more than 4 consecutive weeks at a time.
• Long-term continuous topical steroid therapy can produce atrophic skin changes.
• Do not apply to the face for prolonged periods.
• Prolonged use or treatment of extensive areas can produce adrenal suppression, especially in infants and children.

Contraindications:

• Primary infections (bacterial, viral, fungal)
• Hypersensitivity
• Acne vulgaris
• Neonates

Use in Pregnancy: May be unsafe; animal studies have shown harmful effects; minimize amount and length of treatment if necessary.

Geriatric Use: Same as adult dose.

Overdose: Limited information on topical overdose; excessive use may cause skin irritation.
