Description
This combination capsule contains Zinc Sulphate, Dried Ferrous Sulphate, Folic Acid, Thiamine, Riboflavin, Nicotinamide, Pyridoxine and Ascorbic Acid. Iron is essential for hemoglobin formation and oxygen transport. Folic acid is required for nucleoprotein synthesis and helps prevent neural tube defects. Zinc plays a role in DNA synthesis and supports immune system. Vitamin C is necessary for collagen formation and tissue repair. Vitamin B complex plays a key role in maintaining cell health and energy.

Pharmacology
Iron is an essential component in hemoglobin formation; adequate amounts are necessary for effective erythropoiesis. Folic acid is required for nucleoprotein synthesis and maintenance of normal erythropoiesis. Zinc is a cofactor in over 100 enzymes, plays a role in DNA synthesis, and supports a healthy immune system. Vitamin C is necessary for collagen formation and tissue repair. Vitamin B complex plays a role in synthesis and maintenance of coenzyme A and is necessary for lipid and carbohydrate metabolism.
Mechanism of action
Iron helps in red blood cell formation and oxygen transport; Folic acid is required for nucleoprotein synthesis; Zinc supports DNA synthesis and immune system; Vitamin C helps in collagen formation and tissue repair; Vitamin B complex maintains cell health.
Dosage
Adult Dose (Oral):
- One capsule daily
- In more severe cases: 2 capsules a day
Child Dose: No specific data; use as directed by physician
Administration
For maximum absorption take on empty stomach; may take with or after meals to minimize GI irritation; swallow whole capsule.
Missed dose
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as possible; if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to regular schedule; do not double the dose.

Precautions & warnings
Precautions:
- Caution in patients who may develop iron overload (hemochromatosis, haemolytic anemia or red cell aplasia)
- Iron chelates with tetracycline and absorption may be impaired
- Folic acid may mask symptoms of pernicious anemia
- Daily vitamin requirements must be calculated to avoid over dosage and toxic effects
Contraindications
Contraindications:
- Known hypersensitivity to any ingredients
- Haemosiderosis, hemochromatosis or hemolytic anemias
- Pernicious anemia (folic acid may obscure its signs and symptoms)
Drug interactions
Drug Interactions:
- Iron: Antacids decrease absorption; chelates with tetracycline
- Folic acid: Antiepileptics, oral contraceptives, anti-TB drugs, alcohol decrease serum folate; decreases serum phenytoin concentrations
- Vitamin C: Interactions with deferroxamine, hormonal contraceptives, warfarin

Overdose effects
Overdose: Accidental overdose of iron is a leading cause of fatal poisoning in children under 6; high doses may cause bloody diarrhea, vomiting, acidosis, darkened stools, abdominal pain; Riboflavin is completely safe; >200 mg Pyridoxine long-term may cause sensory neuropathy; Zinc 150-450 mg/day may cause low copper status and reduced immune function.
