Description

Liquid Paraffin + Magnesium Hydroxide is a dual-relief formulation containing a gentle laxative ingredient and a lubricant which eases the discomfort associated with straining and bowel movement. Liquid Paraffin acts as a lubricant to soften stool; Magnesium Hydroxide is an osmotic laxative that draws water into the intestine to increase stool volume and moisture.

Pharmacology

Liquid Paraffin acts as a lubricant to soften stool and ease passage; Magnesium Hydroxide draws water into the intestine through osmotic effect to increase stool volume and moisture, relieving constipation.

Mechanism of action

Softens stool and draws water into the intestine to relieve constipation.

Dosage

Adults: 15-30 mL before breakfast or at bedtime

Children (over 7 years): 7.5-15 mL at bedtime

Children (3-7 years): 5-10 mL at bedtime

May be mixed with milk or half a glass of water if desired.

Administration
  • Measure with a measuring cup and take by mouth
  • Take before breakfast or at bedtime
  • May be mixed with milk or water
  • Do not use for more than 1 week without doctor's supervision
