At a glance

Lymecycline is an antibiotic used for the treatment of bacterial infections. It is effective for lung, urinary tract, eye, skin infections, acne, and sexually transmitted diseases.

Description

Lymecycline is a tetracycline derivative that is approximately 5000 times more soluble than tetracycline base and is absorbed by an active transport process across the intestinal wall. It binds to the 30S ribosome subunit, blocking the access of bacterial aminoacyl-tRNA to the mRNA-ribosome complex, preventing peptide chain elongation in protein synthesis.

  • Acute exacerbation of chronic bronchitis
  • Gastrointestinal infections
