Description
Naphazoline is an imidazoline derivative sympathomimetic with alpha-adrenergic activity that produces vasoconstriction and reduces swelling and congestion of mucous membranes. Pheniramine is an alkylamine derivative antihistamine that blocks histamine effects to reduce allergic reactions.

Pharmacology
Naphazoline stimulates alpha-adrenergic receptors to produce vasoconstriction and reduce conjunctival swelling. Pheniramine blocks histamine H1 receptors to reduce allergic reactions.
Mechanism of action
Relieves eye allergy itching and redness.
Dosage
Adult Dose (Eye Drops):
- 1-2 drops in affected eye up to 4 times daily
Pediatric Dose (6 years+):
- 1-2 drops in affected eye up to 4 times daily
Administration
- Do not touch dropper tip to eye
- Instill in lower eyelid
- Wipe off extra liquid
- Remove contact lenses before use
Missed dose
If you miss a dose, use it as soon as you remember; skip if it's almost time for next dose; do not double the dose.
Side effects
Side Effects:
- Blurred vision
- Mild stinging or irritation
- Mydriasis
- Increased or decreased intraocular pressure
- Ocular erythema
- In elderly, high doses may liberate pigment granules from iris
Precautions & warnings
- Caution in glaucoma, hypertension, CV abnormalities, diabetes, hyperthyroidism, infection or injury
- Rebound congestion may occur with prolonged or excessive use
- Seek medical advice if ocular pain, vision changes, worsening redness or irritation lasts >72 hours
- Avoid in children under 6 years
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity
- Angle closure glaucoma
Drug interactions
- Increased pressor effects with maprotiline or TCAs
- Possibility of severe hypertensive reaction with MAOIs

No food interactions (eye drops).
