Potassium Chloride is an electrolyte supplement used to restore potassium deficiency. It plays an essential role in maintaining normal nerve, muscle, heart, and kidney function.

Used to prevent and treat low blood potassium (hypokalaemia).

Potassium Chloride restores normal potassium levels and supports nerve impulse transmission, muscle contraction, cardiac rhythm, and renal function.

Oral: Take with or after meals with plenty of water or fruit juice. Injection: Administer slowly by intravenous infusion under medical supervision. Dose depends on the severity of potassium deficiency.

Use cautiously in renal impairment. Monitor patients with heart disease. Use carefully with potassium-sparing diuretics. Stop treatment and seek medical advice if severe gastrointestinal symptoms develop.

Taking with food reduces stomach upset.

Use during pregnancy only if clearly needed and under medical supervision.

Pregnancy Category: C — always consult a doctor before taking during pregnancy.

Potassium salts are generally considered compatible with breastfeeding.

May be used in children under medical supervision.

Use with caution in elderly patients, especially if renal function is impaired.

Renal impairment: Use cautiously due to the increased risk of hyperkalaemia. Hepatic impairment: No specific dose adjustment is usually required.

Overdose may cause severe hyperkalaemia, resulting in muscle weakness, paralysis, serious cardiac arrhythmias, or cardiac arrest. Seek emergency medical attention immediately.
