Pharmacology
These nutritional supplements provide essential macronutrients (protein, fat, carbohydrates) and micronutrients (vitamins and minerals). Various formulations address specific patient needs: Fresubin DM provides low GI carbohydrates and high protein for diabetics; Fresubin HP provides high-calorie, high-protein for fluid-restricted patients; KabiPro provides 100% whey protein; KabiSure provides a protein blend with 24 nutrients; Ensure Diabetes Care helps manage blood sugar; PediaSure provides complete nutrition for children.
Mechanism of action
Meets nutritional needs by providing protein, fat, carbohydrates, vitamins, and minerals.
Dosage
Adult Dose (Oral):
- Fresubin DM: 50 g (approx. 4 leveled scoops) once daily, in 170 mL water
- Fresubin HP: 42 g (approx. 3 leveled scoops) once daily, in 60 mL water
- KabiPro: 24 g (approx. 2 leveled scoops) once daily, in 200 mL water
- KabiSure: 25 g (approx. 3 heaped scoops) once daily, in 150 mL milk
- Ensure Diabetes Care: 52 g (6 scoops) in 200 mL water
Pediatric Dose (PediaSure): As directed by physician
Administration
- Mix with cold or lukewarm water as directed
- Can be used for oral or tube feeding
- Consume immediately after preparation; if refrigerated, use within 12 hours
Missed dose
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember; skip if it's almost time for next dose; do not double the dose.
