Besifloxacin 0.6% Eye prep is an antibiotic used in the treatment of bacterial infections of the eye. It relieves the symptoms of the infection by stopping the further growth of the causative microorganisms.

Pharmacology
Besifloxacin is a bactericidal fluoroquinolone antibiotic that inhibits DNA-gyrase (a topoisomerase) in susceptible organisms, which in turn inhibits cell division and leads to bacterial death.
Dosage
Adults: 1 drop in the affected eye(s) 3 times a day for 7 days.
Children (1 year and older): 1 drop in the affected eye(s) 3 times a day for 7 days.
Children (under 1 year): Safety and efficacy have not been established.

Use in pregnancy

Precautions & warnings
- Do not wear contact lenses (until the infection clears up)
- Use within 4 weeks after opening
- Inform your doctor if irritation persists
- Caution when driving (may cause temporary blurred vision)
- Do not touch the dropper tip (to avoid contamination)
Overdose effects
Overuse may cause eye irritation. Consult a doctor if symptoms occur.
Storage conditions
Store at 15-25°C. Protect from light. Use within 4 weeks after opening. Keep out of reach of children.
