Dosage
Adult Dose:
- Antibiotic-associated diarrhea: 250-500 mg 2-4 times daily
- C. difficile diarrhea: 1 g/day for 4 weeks with antibiotics
- Acute diarrhea: 250 mg twice daily for 5 days
- Crohn's disease: 250 mg 3 times daily (up to 9 weeks)
- IBS: 250 mg twice daily
- Traveler's diarrhea: 250 mg/day
Pediatric Dose:
- >3 months: 250 mg twice daily for 5 days
- <3 months: 125 mg twice daily for 5 days
Side effects
Side Effects:
- Gas (intestinal gas)
- Rare cases of abdominal discomfort
