Miconazole 2% Oral Gel is an antifungal medicine used for the treatment of oral and gastrointestinal candidiasis.
Indications
- Oral candidiasis (oral thrush)
- Gastrointestinal candidiasis
- Eradication of fungal colonization in the mouth and gastrointestinal tract
- Super infections due to gram-positive bacteria
Dosage
Oral Gel Dose:
- Oropharyngeal Candidiasis: Adults and children ≥2 years: 2.5 ml (1/2 spoon) 4 times daily; Infants 4-24 months: 1.25 ml (1/4 spoon) 4 times daily
- Gastrointestinal Candidiasis: 20 mg/kg/day (in 4 divided doses); Max: 250 mg (10 ml) 4 times daily
- Continue treatment for at least 1 week after symptoms resolve
Side effects
Side Effects:
- Nausea and vomiting (occasionally)
- Diarrhea with long-term use
- Allergic reactions (rare)
Precautions & warnings
- For external use only (oral gel is for oral use)
- In infants and young children, ensure the gel does not obstruct the throat
