Dosage
Adult (Rheumatoid Arthritis, Osteoarthritis, Ankylosing Spondylitis, Mild-to-Moderate Acute Pain): 50 mg PO q8-12hr.
Adult (Migraine): 50 mg at first sign of attack; additional 50 mg after 2 hours if needed; max 200 mg/day.
Children (>14 years): Up to 75 mg/day in divided doses.
Hepatic impairment: Dose adjustment may be needed.
Side effects
Common: GI discomfort, epigastric pain, eructation, nausea, diarrhea, headache.
Occasional: Skin rash, peripheral edema, serum transaminase abnormalities.
Rare: Peptic ulcer, haematemesis, melena, blood dyscrasia, anaphylactoid reactions.
Precautions & warnings
History of GI ulceration; impaired cardiac, renal or hepatic function; hypertension; elderly and debilitated patients; asthma, porphyria. Monitor LFTs. May prolong bleeding time; caution in coagulation disorders or on anticoagulants.
