Triptorelin Acetate is used in the treatment of prostate cancer. It is also used to treat endometriosis and central precocious puberty.
Indications
- Prostate cancer
- Endometriosis
- Precocious puberty
- Uterine fibroids
- Female infertility
Dosage
Adult Dose (Parenteral):
- Prostate cancer: 22.5 mg IM every 6 months, or 11.25 mg IM every 3 months, or 3.75 mg IM every month
- Endometriosis/Uterine fibroids: 3 or 3.75 mg IM every 4 weeks for up to 6 months; begin during the first 5 days of the menstrual cycle
- Female infertility: 0.1 mg daily SC, in conjunction with gonadotrophins, starting from the 2nd day of the menstrual cycle for 10-12 days
Child Dose: 30 kg: 3.75 mg IM or SC; first 3 doses at 14-day intervals, then every 4 weeks

- Impotence
- Hot flashes
- Fatigue
Precautions & warnings
- May affect ability to drive
- May cause dizziness, tiredness or blurred vision
- Menstrual periods will stop; resume 7-12 weeks after final injection
- Consult doctor if menstrual bleeding continues during treatment
- Use non-hormonal contraception to prevent pregnancy
- Long-term treatment may lead to bone loss and higher risk of fractures
- Take vitamin D and calcium supplements
