Indications
- Hyperphosphatemia in chronic kidney disease patients on dialysis
Dosage
Adult Dose (Oral):
- Starting: 3 tablets (1500 mg) per day (1 tablet with each meal)
- Dose titration: Adjust by 500 mg (1 tablet) per day based on serum phosphorus levels
- Maximum: 6 tablets (3000 mg) per day
Side effects
Common Side Effects:
- Discolored feces (12%)
- Diarrhea (6%)
Precautions & warnings
- Monitor patients with peritonitis, significant gastric/hepatic disorders, major GI surgery history, hemochromatosis, or iron accumulation diseases
- Caution in pregnancy and lactation
