Indications
- Iron Deficiency Anemia: Used for treatment and prophylaxis of iron deficiency anemia.
- Anemia due to Chronic Kidney Disease: Used for treatment of anemia associated with CKD.
Dosage
Adult Dose: One capsule daily; in more severe cases, 2 capsules a day may be required.
Side effects
Common Side Effects:
- Vomiting
- Dark colored stool
- Nausea
- Constipation
- Diarrhea
- Injection site reactions (pain, swelling, redness)
Precautions & warnings
Precautions:
- It is not known whether Ferrous Ascorbate alters the ability to drive; do not drive if you experience any symptoms.
- Take with meals to reduce gastric discomfort.
- Inform your doctor about any medications for infections (antibiotics).
- Tell your doctor if you have peptic ulcer or long-term inflammation of the intestine.
- Seek immediate medical attention if you experience abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, blood in stools, black stools, vomiting of blood, low blood pressure, increased heart rate, dehydration, drowsiness, pale appearance, cyanosis, lack of vigor or fits.
