Felbinac is a topical NSAID used for painful inflammatory conditions of the musculoskeletal system such as sprains, strains, contusions, bursitis, frozen shoulder, and tendonitis.
Indications
- Soft Tissue Trauma: Used for sprains, strains and contusions.
- Extra-articular Rheumatic Conditions: Used for bursitis, capsulitis, frozen shoulder, myalgia, tendonitis, tennis elbow.
- Arthritic Conditions: Used for pain and stiffness of rheumatic or non-serious arthritis.
Dosage
Adult Dose (Topical):
- Rub 1 g gel lightly into the affected area 2 to 4 times a day.
- Total dose should not exceed 25 g a day.
- Treatment should not be extended beyond 6 weeks.
Side effects
Common Side Effects:
- Local skin reactions at application site
- Redness
- Itching
- Burning sensation
Precautions & warnings
Precautions:
- Do not use on broken or denuded skin.
- Do not use with occlusive dressings.
- Avoid contact with eyes and mucous membrane.
- Total dose should not exceed 25 g daily.
- Do not extend treatment beyond 6 weeks.
- Use with caution in patients with renal, cardiac or hepatic impairment, history of peptic ulceration, inflammatory bowel disease or bleeding diathesis.
- Elderly patients are particularly susceptible to adverse effects of NSAIDs; prolonged use in elderly is not recommended.
- Avoid excessive exposure to sunlight of treated areas (photosensitivity).
