Isoflurane is a general anesthetic. It is used in major surgical procedures. It allows the procedures to be carried out without pain and distress. This medicine is used in a hospital setting only. Isoflurane is used in general anesthesia. It causes loss of consciousness which is reversible. It is administered under the supervision of a healthcare professional. The most common side effects include shivering, nausea, vomiting, high grade fever, decreased blood pressure, and irregular heartbeat. Inform your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Known or suspected susceptibility to malignant hyperthermia. Porphyria.

Enhances effects of neuromuscular blockers. May sensitise the myocardium to adrenaline and other sympathomimetics. Enhances hypotensive effects of ACE inhibitors, TCAs, MAOIs, antihypertensives, antipsychotics or beta-blockers. May have synergistic effects with CNS depressants.
