Dosage
Adult Dose:
- Should not exceed 0.5-1 g/kg body weight per hour.
- Usual recommended flow rate: 30-75 drops per minute infused intravenously.

Side effects
Common Side Effects:
- Lactic acidosis
- Hyperuricemia
- Rapid infusion results in facial flushing, abdominal pain and sweating
Precautions & warnings
Precautions:
- Should not be given to patients with hereditary fructose intolerance.
- Should be given with caution to patients with impaired kidney function or severe liver damage.
- Infusion should be immediately discontinued if rigor arises for any reason during the process.
