Sodium Fusidate (Fusidic Acid) is an antibiotic used for the treatment of bacterial skin infections. It inhibits bacterial protein synthesis to prevent the spread of infection.

Indications
  • Bacterial skin infections
Dosage

Adult Dose (Oral):

  • Susceptible infections: 500 mg three times daily
  • Severe infections: Up to 1 g three times daily

Pediatric Dose (Oral):

  • <1 year: Approximately 15 mg/kg
  • 1-5 years: 250 mg
  • 5-12 years: 500 mg
  • Doses to be taken three times daily
Side effects

Common Side Effects:

  • Application site burning, irritation, itching, and redness
  • Nausea, abdominal pain (oral)
Precautions & warnings
  • For external use only (topical)
  • Avoid contact with eyes, nose, or mouth
  • Do not use more often or for longer than advised
  • Caution in pregnancy and lactation
