Indications
- Iron deficiency anaemia
- Anaemia due to chronic kidney disease
Dosage
Adult Dose (Oral):
- 10 ml once or twice daily (depending on extent of iron deficiency)
Child Dose (Oral):
- 6-12 years: 10 ml daily
- 2-6 years: 5 ml daily
- Premature infants & Infants: 3.33 mg elemental iron/kg (0.06 ml drops/kg) daily
Side effects
Common Side Effects:
- Nausea
- Dark colored stool
- Diarrhea
- Constipation
- Injection site reactions (pain, swelling, redness)
Precautions & warnings
Precautions:
- It is not known whether Iron Hydroxide Polymaltose alters ability to drive; do not drive if you experience symptoms affecting concentration and reaction
- Tell doctor if you have rheumatoid arthritis, asthma or other allergies, high blood pressure or liver problems
- Tests to check blood cells and iron levels will be needed
- Limit alcohol during treatment
- Caution in kidney or liver disease
