Lomefloxacin 0.3% Eye or Ear Prep is an antibiotic used in the treatment of bacterial eye infections and ear infections. It relieves symptoms by stopping the growth of causative microorganisms.

Indications
  • Bacterial conjunctivitis
  • Otitis externa
  • Chronic suppurative otitis media with perforated tympanic membranes
  • Acute otitis media with tympanostomy tubes
Dosage

Eye Drops (Bacterial Conjunctivitis):

  • Day 1: 5 drops into conjunctival sac within 20 minutes
  • Days 2-7/9: 1 drop 3 times daily

Ear Drops (Otitis Externa):

  • Adult and 13 years+: 10 drops (0.5 mL) once daily, 7 days

Chronic Suppurative Otitis Media:

  • Adult and 12 years+: 10 drops twice daily, 14 days
Side effects

Common Side Effects:

  • Transient ocular burning (4.7%)
  • Transient blurred vision
  • Foreign body sensation
Precautions & warnings
  • Caution when driving or using machines (may cause transient blurred vision)
  • Do not wear contact lenses until infection clears up
  • Soft hydrophilic contact lenses: benzalkonium chloride may deposit; remove lenses 15 minutes before drops
  • Use within 1 month of opening
