Indications
- Anxiety and Depression: Used for anxiety, depression, apathy, psychogenic depression, depressive neuroses, masked depression, menopausal depressions, and dysphoria and depression in alcoholics and drug addicts.
Dosage
Adult Dose: Usually 2 tablets daily in the morning and noon; in severe cases, the morning dose may be increased to 2 tablets.
Elderly Dose: 1 tablet in the morning.
Maintenance Dose: Usually 1 tablet in the morning.
Side effects
Common Side Effects: Side effects are rare at recommended doses; transient restlessness and insomnia may occur.
Precautions & warnings
Precautions:
- Flupenthixol + Melitracen may decrease alertness, affect vision or make you feel sleepy and dizzy; do not drive if these symptoms occur.
- Avoid alcohol (can make drowsiness worse).
- Can cause changes in blood sugar levels; monitor blood sugar regularly.
- Inform doctor if you have liver disease, thyroid disorder, severe heart disease, or urinary disorder.
- Talk to doctor if sudden mood changes or suicidal thoughts occur.
- Let doctor know before undergoing any surgical procedure.
