Indications
Relieves urinary symptoms (weak stream, frequency) caused by benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).
Therapeutic class
Medicine for enlarged prostate/BPH (alpha-blocker)

Mechanism of action
Relaxes smooth muscle in the prostate and bladder neck, easing urine flow.
Dosage
Usually 25–75 mg once daily (at night); physician titrates gradually.
Administration
Once daily after food; first dose at night (risk of low blood pressure).
Missed dose
Take when remembered; skip if the next dose is near.
Side effects
Dizziness, postural low blood pressure, headache, changes in ejaculation.
Precautions & warnings
Blood pressure may drop on the first dose; tell your surgeon before cataract surgery (IFIS risk).
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to the ingredient.
Drug interactions
Other antihypertensives and PDE-5 inhibitors (sildenafil) may lower blood pressure further.
Food interactions
May be taken with food.
