Lomefloxacin is an antibiotic used in the treatment of bacterial infections of the urinary tract, nose, throat, skin, soft tissues, and lungs (pneumonia).
Indications
- Acute bacterial exacerbation of chronic bronchitis
- Uncomplicated urinary tract infections (E. coli: 3 days; others: 10 days)
- Complicated urinary tract infections (E. coli, K. pneumoniae, P. mirabilis, P. aeruginosa: 14 days)
- Prophylaxis of surgical infections
- Bacterial conjunctivitis, blepharitis, keratitis, corneal ulcer (eye drops)
Dosage
Adult Dose (Oral):
- Chronic bronchitis: 400 mg once daily, 10 days
- Uncomplicated UTI: 400 mg once daily (E. coli: 3 days; others: 10 days)
- Complicated UTI: 400 mg once daily, 14 days
- Surgical prophylaxis: 400 mg single dose 1-6 hours before procedure
Renal Impairment: CrCl 10-40: Initial 400 mg/day, Maintenance 200 mg/day

Precautions & warnings
- Caution when driving or activities requiring concentration (may cause dizziness)
- Discontinue if tendon pain, swelling, or rupture signs occur
