Neomycin Sulphate 0.4% + Polymixin B Sulphate + Pramoxine 1% Topical is an antibiotic and anesthetic cream used for burns, scrapes, cuts and skin infections.

Pharmacology

Neomycin binds to 30S ribosomal subunit to inhibit bacterial protein synthesis. Polymyxin B interacts with phospholipid components of bacterial membrane to produce bactericidal effect. Pramoxine provides local anesthetic effect.

Dosage

Adult Dose (Topical):

  • Apply to affected area 1-3 times daily
  • Amount equal to surface area of fingertip

Pediatric Dose (2 years+): Apply 1-3 times daily

  • Burning
  • Itching
  • Irritation
  • Hypopigmentation
  • Skin atrophy
  • Striae
Use in pregnancy

Use in Pregnancy: Use only if potential benefit justifies potential risk to fetus.

Pregnancy Category: C — always consult a doctor before taking during pregnancy.

Precautions & warnings
  • Possibility of ototoxicity, nephrotoxicity and exogenous hyperadrenocorticism if used in large quantities or on large areas for prolonged use
  • Do not use in external eardrum if tympanic membrane is perforated
Overdose effects

Overdose unlikely (topical use); symptomatic treatment.

Store in a dry and cool place protected from light and moisture; keep out of reach of children.
