Naphazoline Nitrate 0.005% + Zinc Sulphate 0.02% Eye prep is used as a conjunctival decongestant. It relieves eye irritation, redness and burning caused by dry eyes and helps in bacterial and viral conjunctivitis.
Indications
- Conjunctival decongestant
- Acute and chronic non-infectious conjunctivitis
- Nonspecific conjunctival irritation
- Bacterial and viral conjunctivitis
- Irrigation of tear ducts
Dosage
Adult Dose (Eye Drops):
- 1-2 drops in conjunctival sac, 3-4 times daily
Pediatric Dose:
- 1 drop in conjunctival sac, 3-4 times daily
Side effects
Side Effects:
- Mydriasis
- Slight increase in intraocular pressure (isolated cases)
- Slight and transient burning sensation after instillation
- Rebound redness with long-term use
- Rare systemic CV effects (hypertension, arrhythmia)
- Nonspecific fatigue
Precautions & warnings
- Caution in predisposition to glaucoma, hypertension, CV diseases, pheochromocytoma, aneurysm, hyperglycemia and hyperthyroidism
- Rebound congestion may occur with prolonged use
