Human normal Immunoglobulin is used to strengthen the body's natural immune system to lower the risk of infection in persons with weakened immune system.
Indications
- Immunoglobulins deficiency
- Primary immunodeficiency
Dosage
Adult Dose (IV):
- Severe bacterial/viral infections and A-/Hypogammaglobulinemia: 2500-5000 mg single dose IV infusion
- ITP: 200-400 mg/kg daily for 5 days
- Guillain-Barre Syndrome: 400 mg/kg daily for 5 days
- Kawasaki Syndrome: 400 mg/kg daily for 5 days or 2000 mg daily IV infusion
Child Dose:
- Neonates and infants: 5 ml (250 mg)/kg daily for 3 days
- Severe infections and A-/Hypogammaglobulinemia: 50-150 mg/kg single dose
- ITP: 200-400 mg/kg daily for 5 days
- Guillain-Barre Syndrome: 400 mg/kg daily for 5 days
- Kawasaki Syndrome: 400 mg/kg daily for 5 days
Side effects
Common Side Effects:
- Back pain
- Chills
- Flushing (warmth in face, ears, neck and trunk)
- Dizziness
- Headache
- Nausea
- Decreased blood pressure
- Muscle pain
- Slow heart rate
- Wheezing
Precautions & warnings
Precautions:
- Human normal Immunoglobulin may affect your ability to drive
- Side effects like dizziness or nausea may occur during treatment
- Doctor will monitor you for some time after administration
- Inform doctor if you have received any live vaccine (oral polio, MMR) in the last three months
- Caution in patients with IgA antibodies
