Dexamethasone + Neomycin + Polymyxin B is an eye preparation used for the treatment of ocular inflammation with suspected or confirmed bacterial infection.
Indications
- Bacterial eye infections
- Ocular inflammation with suspected or confirmed bacterial infection
Dosage
Adult: Instill 1-2 drops into the conjunctival sac(s) of the affected eye(s) up to 4-6 times daily (may be used up to hourly in severe disease). Reduce frequency once condition improves.
Side effects
Common: Blurred vision, cataract, raised intraocular pressure, stinging, conjunctival hemorrhage, glaucoma, vitreous detachment, hives, rash, itching, eye pain.
Precautions & warnings
Prolonged use may cause glaucoma, optic nerve damage, posterior subcapsular cataract formation, and increased risk of secondary ocular infections. Increased risk of perforations in diseases causing thinning of the cornea or sclera. Corticosteroids may mask or worsen infections. Regular IOP monitoring recommended if used for ≥10 days.
