Multivitamin [water & fat soluble] + 5% Dextrose is an injectable nutritional supplement used to meet daily vitamin requirements in patients receiving parenteral nutrition. It contains 9 water-soluble and 3 fat-soluble vitamins.
Indications
- Daily vitamin maintenance for patients receiving parenteral nutrition
- Surgery, extensive burns, fractures and other trauma
- Severe infectious diseases
- Comatose states
- Increased metabolic demands
Dosage
Adults and Children ≥11 years:
- 1 vial daily
- Reconstitute with 5 ml Water for Injections or 0.9% Sodium Chloride or 5% Dextrose
- Administer by slow IV injection (at least 10 minutes) or IV infusion
- Use within 24 hours of reconstitution
Side effects
Side Effects:
- Anaphylactic reactions (in patients sensitive to Thiamine)
- Urticaria and rash
- Allergic reactions
Precautions & warnings
- Caution in patients allergic to Thiamine (Vitamin B1) and Nicotinamide
- Sneezing or mild asthma may be warning signs of anaphylactic shock
- Monitor liver function in hepatic disease or cholestasis
- Monitor fat-soluble vitamin levels in renal impairment
