Dydrogesterone is a progestin (female hormone) used for female infertility, menstrual problems, premenstrual syndrome (PMS), endometriosis, and prevention of threatened miscarriage. It regulates the healthy growth and shedding of the womb lining.

Dosage

Adult Dose (Oral):

  • Endometriosis: 10 mg bid-tid cyclically or continuously.
  • Habitual miscarriage: 10 mg bid cyclically until conception, then continuously until week 20 of pregnancy.
  • Menstrual disorders: 10 mg bid cyclically.
  • Threatened miscarriage: Initially 40 mg, then 10 mg or more every 8 hours for 1 week after symptoms relieved.
  • Infertility: 10 mg bid.
  • HRT: 10 mg 1-2 times daily cyclically or 5 mg daily.

  • Headache/migraine
  • Nausea
  • Breast pain/tenderness
  • Menstrual disorders
  • Breakthrough bleeding or spotting
Precautions & warnings
  • Dydrogesterone is used for menstrual disorders and to maintain a healthy womb lining for pregnancy.
  • In case of repeated miscarriages, seek regular prenatal care.
  • Avoid smoking, alcohol and limit caffeine intake (may lead to miscarriage).
  • It may cause bleeding or spotting between periods; inform doctor if frequent.
  • Inform doctor if you have history of liver disease or depression.
  • Etiology of abnormal bleeding should be clarified before treatment.
