Solifenacin Succinate is a muscarinic receptor antagonist used for the treatment of overactive bladder (OAB) symptoms such as frequent urination, urgent need to urinate, and inability to control urination.
Indications
- Overactive bladder (OAB) – urgency, increased urinary frequency, urge incontinence
Dosage
Adult Dose (Oral):
- Starting: 5 mg once daily
- If needed and tolerated: 10 mg once daily
- With CYP3A4 inhibitors (ketoconazole, ritonavir): Max 5 mg/day
- Severe renal impairment (CrCl <30): Max 5 mg/day
- Moderate hepatic impairment (Child-Pugh B): Max 5 mg/day
Side effects
Common Side Effects:
- Dry mouth (very common: 11-22%)
- Constipation, nausea, dyspepsia
- Abdominal pain, blurred vision
- Urinary tract infection
Precautions & warnings
- Do not use in uncontrolled narrow-angle glaucoma, urinary retention, gastric retention
- Caution in clinically significant bladder outflow obstruction, GI obstructive disorders
- Severe renal or moderate hepatic impairment: Do not exceed 5 mg
- May affect driving ability (blurred vision, drowsiness)
