Indications
Corrects zinc deficiency, supports childhood diarrhoea treatment, maintenance in Wilson's disease, and aids immunity and wound healing.
Dosage
Deficiency: usually 10–40 mg elemental zinc/day; childhood diarrhoea 10–20 mg/day for 10–14 days. Higher in Wilson's disease (under medical care).
Side effects
Nausea, stomach upset, metallic taste; long-term high doses can cause copper deficiency.
Precautions & warnings
Avoid prolonged high doses; watch for signs of copper deficiency.
