Spinosad Topical Suspension is a scabicide and pediculicide used for the topical treatment of scabies infestations (4 years and older) and head lice infestations (6 months and older).
Indications
- Scabies infestations (4 years and older)
- Head lice infestations (6 months and older)
Dosage
Scabies Treatment:
- Rub thoroughly into the entire body from neck down to soles of feet
- Apply to balding scalp, hairline, temples, and forehead
- Allow 10 minutes for drying before dressing
- Avoid bathing for at least 6 hours after application
Head Lice Treatment:
- Apply thoroughly to scalp and dry hair
- Rinse with warm water after 10 minutes
- Repeat after 7 days if live lice are observed
Side effects
Common Side Effects (>1%):
- Scabies: Application site irritation, dry skin
- Lice: Application site erythema, ocular erythema
Precautions & warnings
- Contains benzyl alcohol; not approved for use in neonates and infants below 6 months
- Caution in pregnancy and lactation (cleanse breast with soap and water before breastfeeding)
