Pneumococcal Polysaccharide Conjugated Vaccine is used for prevention of invasive diseases caused by pneumococcal bacteria such as pneumonia, meningitis, blood infections, and ear infections. It helps develop immunity by initiating a mild infection.
Indications
- Prevention of pneumococcal disease (pneumonia, meningitis, bacteremia, otitis media)
Dosage
Pediatric Dose (Intramuscular):
- 6 weeks-6 months (3-dose Primary): 1st dose at 2 months or 6 weeks, 3 doses with 1-month interval; Booster at least 6 months after last primary dose
- 2-dose Primary: 1st dose at 2 months, 2-month interval between 1st & 2nd dose
- 7-11 months (previously unvaccinated): 2 doses at least 1 month apart, 3rd dose in 2nd year
- 12 months-5 years (previously unvaccinated): 2 doses at least 2 months apart
- Pre-term infants (≥27 weeks gestation): 3 doses with 1st dose at 2 months, 1-month interval; Booster at least 6 months after last primary dose

Precautions & warnings
- Delay vaccination in febrile illness (until recovery)
- Inform doctor if fever occurs; if >102°F or persists
- Consult doctor during pregnancy and lactation
