Butenafine 1% Topical is an antifungal cream used in the treatment of fungal skin infections such as ringworm, athlete's foot, and jock itch. It stops the growth of fungus by preventing them from making their protective covering.
Indications
- Ringworm (Tinea corporis)
- Athlete's foot (Tinea pedis)
- Jock itch (Tinea cruris)
- Tinea versicolor
Dosage
Adults and children 12 years and older:
Tinea pedis (Athlete's foot): Apply 1% cream twice daily for 7 days. Not to exceed 4 weeks.
Tinea corporis (Ringworm), Tinea cruris (Jock itch), and Tinea versicolor: Apply once/twice daily for 2 weeks. Not to exceed 4 weeks.
Note: Follow the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Do not use longer than recommended.
Side effects
- Burning sensation
- Itching
- Stinging sensation
These side effects are usually not serious and often resolve over time.
Precautions & warnings
- Use only in the prescribed dose and duration; do not apply more often or longer than directed (may increase risk of side effects).
- Wash the affected area with soap and water and dry well before each application.
- Avoid contact with eyes, ears, nose, or mouth.
- Inform your doctor if you notice changes in skin color or burning sensation.
