Tedizolid Phosphate is an oxazolidinone-class antibacterial used for the treatment of acute bacterial skin and skin structure infections (ABSSSI) caused by susceptible Gram-positive microorganisms.
Indications
- Acute bacterial skin and skin structure infections (ABSSSI) – caused by susceptible Gram-positive microorganisms
Dosage
Adult Dose (Oral/IV):
- 200 mg once daily for 6 days
- May be taken with or without food
- IV: Administer as IV infusion over 1 hour; do not give as IV push or bolus
Side effects
Common Side Effects (2-10%):
- Nausea (8%), Headache (6%)
- Diarrhea (4%), Hemoglobin <10.1 g/dL (3.1%)
- Vomiting (3%), Platelets <112×10³/mm³ (2.3%)
- Dizziness (2%)
Rare (<2%):
- Anemia, palpitations, tachycardia
- Blurred vision, infusion-related reactions
- Insomnia, pruritus, urticaria, dermatitis
Precautions & warnings
- Consider alternative therapy in patients with neutropenia (neutrophils <1,000/mm³)
- Discontinue if C. difficile-associated diarrhea is suspected
- Not evaluated in diabetic foot infections, ischemic ulcers, bone/joint infections, necrotizing infections
- May affect driving ability
