Tioconazole Vaginal Prep is an antifungal used for vulvovaginal candidiasis (vaginal fungal infection). It kills fungi by destroying their cell membrane.
Indications
- Vulvovaginal candidiasis (vaginal fungal infection)
Dosage
Adult Dose (Vaginal):
- Vulvovaginal candidiasis: One full applicator (about 4.6 g) intravaginally at bedtime as a single dose
- Or 300 mg suppository intravaginally as a single dose
Pediatric Dose (>12 years):
- Same as adult dose
Side effects
Common Side Effects:
- Vaginal burning
- Itching
- Irritation
- Discharge, vulvar edema and swelling
- Vaginal pain, dysuria, nocturia, dyspareunia
- Dryness of vaginal secretions, desquamation
Precautions & warnings
- For intravaginal administration only
- Can damage condoms and diaphragms; do not use these within 72 hours of treatment
- Avoid contact with eyes
- Inform doctor if no improvement after 3 days or if it lasts more than 7 days
